Second Vatican Council, also called Vatican II, was the 21st ecumenical council of the Roman Catholic Church, announced and convoked on October 11, 1962 by St. Pope John XXIII (Angelo Roncalli) and concluded by St. Paul VI (Giovanni Battista Montini) on December 8, 1965.
